Para Kevin James, inclinar la balanza a 302 libras era toda la motivación que necesitaba para empezar a perder peso. Primero perdió 40 libras en 2011, pero luego hizo otro cambio en 2012 cuando siguió un programa de alto cardío tres veces al día. También comenzó a consumir batidos de vegetales verdes y muchas proteínas. Se fueron 45 libras adicionales.
Sin embargo, a mediados de 2012, comenzó a recuperar el peso. Finalmente, con una nueva motivación en 2018, reveló una pérdida de 20 libras en marzo y planeó perder 50 más. James interpretó a Kevin Gable en el programa de televisión Kevin Can Wait de 2016 a 2018.
