In 2018, Emmy-winning reporter Nichelle Medina had an unexpected “Zoo Day” surprise during CBS News 8’s “Morning News” segment. As she and co-anchor Eric Kahnert chatted about the animals visiting from the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, a scarlet ibis named Sophie decided to join the action in a way nobody expected.
Sophie perched right on their heads, catching them completely off guard and giving viewers an instant classic. Nichelle’s expression was priceless as she tried to keep her composure with a bright red bird as her new accessory. Eric, on the other hand looked like he was getting attacked. It was an unforgettable morning for everyone watching.
