Peter Altmeier ist inzwischen als Politiker deutschlandweit bekannt geworden. Bevor er jedoch in die Politik ging, hat er zunächst Jura studiert. Danach arbeitete der Sohn einer Krankenschwester und eines Bergmanns für eine lange Zeit an der Universität als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter.
Mit dem Amt, das er heute in der Politik bekleidet verdient er ungefähr 18.000 Euro pro Monat. Dazu kommen dann noch die Sonderzuschüsse. Außerdem konnte er sich im letzten Jahr, genau wie alle anderen Politiker auch, über eine satte Gehaltserhöhung freuen. Inzwischen wird sein Vermögen auf ungefähr 2 Millionen Euro geschätzt.
