Thomas Howell é uma antiga estrela de rodeio infantil. Ele começou sua carreira de ator no épico filme para adolescentes Vidas sem Rumo, que foi lançado em 1983. Lá, ele nos mostrou um grande talento para atuar e Hollywood queria ver mais dele. Depois disso, ele obteve papéis populares, incluindo filmes como A Volta por Cima e Amanhecer Violento. Mais recentemente, ele decidiu tentar dirigir filmes e trabalhou, várias vezes com o grande cineasta Francis Ford Coppola.
Embora ele tenha estudado no Conservatório Nacional de Artes Dramáticas, talvez ele devesse tentar estudar em outros cursos também (como talvez aulas de Direito online), particularmente desde que expandiu seu horizonte de carreira fora da atuação.
