Deze actrice werd bekend met haar rol in Cactus Flower uit 1969, waarmee ze een Oscar won voor Beste Ondersteunende Actrice én een Golden Globe Award.
Hierdoor kreeg Goldie nog vele belangrijke rollen aangeboden, zoals die in The Sugarland Express, Shampoo, Private Benjamin en zo nog veel meer. Sinds Valentijnsdag 1983 heeft Goldie een relatie met Kurt Russel, maar ze zijn nog niet getrouwd. In The Christmas Chronicles uit 2018 spelen de twee zij aan zij.
