Sophia Loren is een Italiaanse actrice die haar carrière al is begonnen op haar 16de, nadat ze een schoonheidswedstrijd had gewonnen en acteerlessen nam. Loren ontving een Oscar voor Beste Actrice met haar rol in de film Two Women. Dit is wat haar carrière echt een flinke boost heeft gegeven. Ook was zij hiermee de eerste vrouw ooit die een Oscar won voor een rol in een buitenlandse film.
De actrice had wereldwijde fans, maar vooral in Italië was ze erg geliefd. In 2010 werd ze een jurylid voor de Miss Italië verkiezing. Ze heeft gedurende haar carrière vele prijzen en onderscheidingen gewonnen en is nu dan ook wel één van de grootste klassieke Hollywood namen.
